Widener U. 2/5/10 & winter storm

Practices have gone well this week. I have started a new phase (which kicks my ass) and will be getting a rise out of my body today (the fifth day). That is why I will be traveling to PA for a meet at Widener University. After this week my nervous system will be down, so it's time to get a better throw in this indoor season before all focus turns to USA Outdoor T&F Nationals. The meet will go on despite the weather. They are calling for 12+ inches in South Jersey/Philly. Maybe some sledding after, HMMMMM?!?!??!! I will post late this evening with the results.

Millrose Games a No GO!

So after numerous e-mail conversations this past month with the Millrose crew, it has been relayed to me that I will not be throwing there this year. Due to time (with tv and all) they could only keep the field to four throwers (nelson, hoffa, taylor & cantwell). I have been lucky in the past to sneek my way in but this year is a no go. Dane Miller and myself set up this month to peak this week, which I am feeling. I was ripping practice bombs of 19meters+ which is amazing for me. I usually don't throw far in practice. So, now that this is my peak week, I will be watching Millrose Games on tv, ESPN from 8-10pm. Next week I will throw at Widner University. I should throw very well. Monday of next week is the start of a new phase. This phase will make me sore Monday-Thursday (thursday off day) and friday I will have a rise out of my nervous system. We call it the 5 day new phase peak. After this rise on Friday night my nervous system will go into the gutter for 2 weeks before my body begins to respond to training again. Now, 2 years of this type of training has shown results during the 5th day, and the 4th-5th week. Lets see if we can prove our findings correct next week at Widner!

Ontop of that we got some sick Jersey Trash stickers so if you want some sent to you, in order to help us promote our business then send us an e-mail at jerseytrashclothing@gmail.com

Also, be on the look out for my vlog which will be starting soon on youtube... I need a hobby!

It's been a long time!

Oh it's been a while hasn't it? Let me get you up to date with what I am doing. Training is going well. I have been getting tons of throwing reps in 4 times a week. 24 total shot throws followed by 4x10 30lb Med ball throwing specific drills. So, the grand total is 64 throws a day. Not bad. I have been throwing into a net, therefore I don't know my distances. Three weeks ago was a very good week. Technique was effortless and I was catching the ball back far. The last two weeks I have been rushing the throw and loosing that perfect throw feel. Hopefully, tommorrow (start of a new week) I can work on getting back quality throws.

JTC aka Jersey Trash Clothing is going well also. We have two graphic designers working on our stuff. One worked for Volcom and the other did shirts for Airwalk. The designs will be up soon.. hopefully! It's a process to get this stuff from an idea to up and going on the website. Here is one of our woman's designs

Nov 10th..

I am currently in my second phase of training this year and it is a nice change. The last phase I has throwing the 18lb shot. This phase I am using the 16 & 14lb shots. This makes throwing alot easier on the body. However, weight room exercises are tough with a ton of Static Holds for time and following lifting comes specific strength exercises. To give you a glimpse: 30lb Med ball Half turn throw into wall 80% intensity 3x45reps; 8lb med ball throw 80% intensity for height 3x45reps and a bunch of barbell full turns. So, in essence I am roughly completing 112 turns a practice either from throwing or specific strength exercises.

This weekend I will be attending Dane Miller and Company's Nutrition Seminar in Reading Pa. at GARAGE STRENGTH LLC. I am looking forward to it because I will be picking up 8 gallons of RAW MILK to bring back to NJ. The following weekend I will be attending a Fashion Show where my clothing line, Jersey Trash Clothing will be featured. I hope to get some good pics of that up after the event!

Oct 1st..

Well it's 7am and I have been here at work for two hours. Body aches, bones hurt, earth quakes are making the world dance and all I can think about is taking my nap at 9:30am. After I will practice and then it's back to work till 9pm. Fun times right? This time as given me an opportunity to do alot of brain storming and thinking. I know these next two years are going to be tough with training, but if things go well I will be getting the rest that I need in the 2011-2012 year- if I make it.

Training is in full swing. I am doing a superset type of workouts with no rest and lifts reflect the throws. We are doing this in order for me to cut a few pounds. It's weird, since I started working with Dane Miller of www.garagestrength.com my body has softened up and become more rounded but my throws have increased. What is this telling me? More sports specific movements at consistant high velocities and no more than 20min max in the weight room. Very different then the way I was originally tought. I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks!

QUIT JUST FING QUIT!!!

I started training last week and what a week to start- The humidity was terrible! I will be getting back into the grind today and hopefully have a better outlook on things this week. Being it was the first week last week, my energy was low and negative thoughts began to slip past by defenses and were dragging me down. With the changing of technique, exercises etc. so does the changing of my mental approach. At 29 years old, no solid career and bills things are begining to weigh me down. I think if I can struggle through the next two years with good training then 2011-2012 will be the final year and hopefully the best. Monmouth University kids will be back in session soon so that will keep me occupied at practice a few days out of the week, but as of now it's me and the 'heat stress monster.' Hope I can hang in there a bit longer.

Just want to Relax

I have not posted in a while because nothing exciting is going on. It's the time of the year to sit back and relax, so I am taking a month off of training before I start back up again in August. Since I have not trained, I have noticed a couple of things going on within my body. My hamstrings have been bugging me and I have had a head ache for 2+ weeks now. I call it exercise withdrawl. During this time life troubles, aka my car, have arisen, so I have been doing alot of reading and repairing to my car. When one thing goes wrong everything goes wrong. My day of relaxing has now turned into pulling the computer out of my car and running diagnostics to locate the proplem. Fun stuff, and the car needs to be inspected by Saturday, so it's crunch time. Also, things are moving forward with Jersey Trash Clothing, revamping the website, getting new designs up and in talks with some bands for sponsorship- another project (a big one!) is underway and I will be meeting with the Investor for lunch tommorrow. I am excited about that. Well, back to work.
